Q: What is the Wifi password?
A: The password is written on the router in the livingroom. The EPIS network in the living room is stronger, faster and more reliable. EPIS_BEDROOMS is, well, for the bedrooms. We added this network for extended coverage. Both networks use the same password.
Q: Do you have a high speed Internet connection?
A: YES, definitely! And we are very proud to have it too. We have a dedicated Gigabit fiber for our apartment only (not shared with neighbors). The wiring is purposely installed to enable and facilitate online work for entire groups of business grade users,
Tech A: To get maximum speed for your Internet connection, connect with a good quality LAN cable (preferably CAT7 or higher). There are switches on both sides of the terrace doors, and there are also connectors outside on the terrace so that you can use a wired connection while sitting outside on the terrace.
Q: Do you have air conditioning (AC)?
A: Yes, we even have separate air conditioning (AC) inverters (indoor units) in each bedroom and in the kitchen/living room. Each machine can be set separately from the other ones, so no need to agree on a common temperature. These are hot/cold machines, so you can keep it cool during summer and get heating in winter.
Q: What is the small extra tap in the kitchen for?
A: It provides filtered drinking water. We have installed a high quality osmosis system that provides drinking water from this tap. Tap water is chlorinated in Spain, so it is very common to buy bottled drinking water in the stores. But with an osmosis filter, there is no need for you to buy and carry home bottled water from the store. It is great for cooking too, of course. If it temporarily runs out, just give it a little time and you can very soon get more drinking water. We test the quality of the drinking water regularly and replace the filters when needed to keep the drinking water fresh.
Q: How do I turn lights on and off?
A: You can use the wall-mounted light switches as usual, but we also connected most of the lights to the
IKEA Home Smart App (here in Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store),
so you can download and use if you want to. Instructions on how to connect the app to EPIS can be found in the app or on the IKEA home page here. The IKEA Smart Hub is in the living room under the sea shell lamp.
Q: What kind of TV do you have?
A: We have a 55" LG OLED TV. Superb picture. And the sound plays through external DALI speakers via a Denon receiver, which should automatically turn on when you switch on the TV.
Q: Can I play Netflix, HBO, Disney+, Amazon Prime, ... on the TV?
A: Yes, the TV has a whole bunch of apps, so have a look and see what you can find. All of the most popular streaming services are available. There is also a Spotify app on the TV which is great for karaoke and animated music. YouTube app, and much, much more. Note that you need to use your own accounts for the streaming services.
Q: How do I use the Spotify speaker?
A: You can either use the
IKEA Home Smart App (here in Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store), or the
Spotify app (here in Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store).
Note that you need to use your own Spotify account.
Q: I cannot get the oven to work, is it broken?
A: Probably not, but the oven does has personality. If the power was out, just set the clock to get the oven working again. Yes, this is very annoying, when it breaks we will replace it with another oven with less personality. But we also don't want to waste mother nature's resources too much, so we keep it for now.
Q: Do you have a parking space?
A: Yes, it is included in your rental. It is a gated on-site parking, right next to the property itself.
Q: Can we make the dining table larger?
A: Yes, the dining table seats at least 6 people as is, but the table can be extended to seat at least 10. You can find the extra dining table inserts in the wardrobe in the pink bedroom.
Q: Can I really cook in the kitchen?
A: Yes, we do all the time, and we most often cook for about 8 people. We keep the kitchen fully equipped. And there are lots of plates, cutlery, glasses, and much much more. We don't think that you will be missing anything essential.
Q: I broke a glass or plate, what do I do?
A: Most importantly, if you got hurt, make sure to take care of yourself. There is a first aid kit in the kitchen if you need it. Don't worry about the glass or plate, things like that happen. You will not be charged. We do appreciate very much if you please let us know about it, so we can take extra care when cleaning.
Q: I severely stained a towel or pillow or carpet or something, what do I do?
A: Don't worry, things like that happen. You will not be charged. Please do not throw it away. We will have a go at getting whatever it is into shape again, if it works then it works, but no worries either way.
Q: What does EPIS mean?
A: EPIS is sort of a word play acronym on "Epic Place In the Sun". While not epic in the true sense of the word, we started calling it that and the name simply stuck with us.
